TASS - 2009/10 TALENTED ATHLETE SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME

The Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) is a performance-orientated programme launched by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) during 2004. The fith year intake will end on 30th September 2009, the BCU/Canoe England has been allocated 15 Scholarships for the 2009/10 intake and application are now being accepted, full details of the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme 2009-2010 can be found below:

SPORTS AID - 2009/10 SportsAid GRANT SCHEME
The SportsAid Grant Scheme is a performance-oriented programme available for young sporting talents supported by Sport England. The SportsAid scheme currently offers grants of up to £500 (with exceptional performance grants up to £1,000) to athletes normally aged between 12 and 18 (under 12 and up to 21 with special justification); however priority will be given to those in the 12 to 16 age bracket.
The BCU/Canoe England has been allocated 25 National English SportsAid applications, plus additionally throughout the SportsAid regions and Scotland and Wales may also be available subject to funds available within their designated region. In order to be considered for a regional award the applicant must reside within that specified area/or local authority.

Derbyshire Sport - Talented Athlete Fund - 2009/10
Derbyshire Sport is committed to supporting governing bodies in the development of performance sport in the county, through 3 key developments - providing direct support to athletes, enhancing the performance environment and developing performance coaches. The direct support to athletes is through the Derbyshire Talented Athlete Fund.

Hampshire Talented Athlete Scheme
Hampshire County Council, in partnership with Southampton City Council provides support services to help Hampshire’s most talented athletes reach world class podiums. Support is based on performance levels and can include:
Monetary grants up to £500
Free access to participating leisure centres
Fast track physiotherapy care
Free bus travel cards from Stagecoach, Bluestar and First Group
Annual sport science conference at Southampton Solent University
Advice to schools on mentoring support
The scheme is open to:
Hampshire residents including the 13 local borough and district councils together with Southampton City Council. (Please note that Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight are not part of this scheme).
Athletes aged over 11 years.
Athletes competing in HTAS supported sports.
Athletes ranked in the top 15 in the country.
The deadline for applications is 14 October 2011.

GLL Sports Foundation
Athlete Applicant Criteria Early estimates for the GLL Sport Foundation in 2009 suggests we will be able to give varying levels of support to around 700 young athletes. In the coming year we hope this support will continue to increase further.
How we can assist
Support will be given in the following ways:
Financial grants to young talented athletes
Memberships that provide free access to 65 sports and leisure facilities currently managed by GLL on behalf of our Partners (see below)
Where our Borough Partners have an established Council-led talent identification and support initiative, the GLL Sport Foundation will work in partnership through or with this organisation
